Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Maasai Mara Reserve

Wake up early for breakfast and meet your Kenya safari driver guide for pick up. Leave Nairobi for a half-day trip to Maasai Mara National Reserve in Southwestern Kenya. This is one of the oldest reserves in Kenya, home to all the African big five game: African bush elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and other wildlife, birds.

Enjoy the breathtaking rift valley view in the countryside, and the extensive savanna plains, and arrive early to check in at your place of stay. Enjoy lunch and you will proceed for an afternoon game drive. Lasting for a short time, but rewarding with sights of wildebeests, hyenas, leopards, zebras, Maasai giraffes, hyenas, and birds.

Day 2: Game drive, wildebeest migration – Maasai Mara

A full-day trip to see the African big five game starts early after breakfast. Navigate through the sweeping savanna plains of the Maasai Mara National Reserve with packed lunch. Enjoy the best sight of elephants, leopards, buffaloes, rhinos, lions, and watch the wildebeests, elands, gazelles, zebras, and birds. Settle for lunch in the wilderness, and proceed with game viewing then later visit the Maasai people in their local community.

Day 3: Maasai Mara to Bwindi by flight

Enjoy a hot cup of tea/coffee, after, connect to the airstrip at Maasai Mara ready to connect to Entebbe Airport. Arrive early and catch up with an afternoon connecting flight to Kihihi or Kisoro airstrip in Southwestern Uganda, about 1-2 hours flight.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking, Batwa pygmy visit

A delicious breakfast will be served to you early, after, settle at the Buhoma sector or any other gorilla sector (Ruhija, Nkuringo, and Rushaga). The briefing will be done early by park official in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda. The briefing is all about you getting to understand the set gorilla trekking rules and regulations.

Get a gorilla family assigned to you to visit in a group of 8 visitors. At 8:00 am, start your 2-6 hours long adventure to see mountain gorillas. With park guides leading you through, you will be allowed to stay for one hour face-to-face with a group of mountain gorillas in the wild. Take pictures and return to be given a gorilla trekking certificate, after, proceed to the lodge to relax.

In the evening, great entertainment from Batwa pygmies while on a cultural visit to their local community. Return to the gorilla trekking safari lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Depart

Leave Bwindi National Park early morning with packed lunch.
