Detailed Itinerary- 10 Days Uganda and Tanzania 

 

Day 1: Pick up & Transfer to Kibale

An experienced safari driver from Flawless Adventure Planners Ltd will meet you at the hotel you had a night the previous day you arrived. Expect to have a short briefing from your safari driver/guide about the epic 10-day Uganda and Tanzania East African safari holiday. After the briefing, drive off from Entebbe City to Kibale National Park taking the Mityana-Mubende-Fort Portal Tourism City route.

About 5-6 hours will be spent driving up to Kibale National Park but expect to enjoy the beautiful view of vast tea farms, and the stunning Rwenzori Mountain ranges. Lunch break will be enjoyed on arrival at the beautiful Fort Portal Tourism City. After lunch, continue to the pre-booked accommodation for relaxation and also make preparations for your next primate adventure in Kibale Forest National Park.

Day 2: Experience the Best of Kibale Chimp Trekking & Bigodi Wetland Walk

Wake up early organize yourself and also enjoy a delicious breakfast. Afterward, meet the driver guide ready to transfer to Kanyanchu Visitor Center for briefing about Kibale chimpanzee tracking guidelines. The briefing will be followed by the allocation of the park ranger guides who will take you on the search for chimpanzees on foot.

At around 8:00 am, leave Kanyanchu for an actual walk through Kibale Forest- home to over 13 primate species inclusive of more than 1500 chimpanzees. Today, you will be exploring one of the fully habituated chimpanzee communities in Kibale Forest Park. The overall trek will last for 2-4 hours which also covers an hour for photography and observing how chimpanzees behave.

Beyond chimps, expect to find other primates including olive baboons, red-tailed monkeys, red colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and black and white colobus monkeys. Some birds will also be encountered along the way.

You will return to the lodge after a special moment with chimps in their natural habitat. At the lodge, expect to have an early lunch and then relax before you transfer to Bigodi Wetland for a guided nature walk. A guided Bigodi wetland walk takes you deep into the lush natural wetland with papyrus vegetation and several plants. An experienced local guide will accompany you and expect to see more primates, birds like the Great Blue Turacos; plus other mammals. From Bigodi, drive back to your respective accommodation for an evening leisure time.

Day 3: Drive to Bwindi National Park –En route Photography at the Equator

Enjoy an early breakfast at leisure and later, depart for Bwindi National Park which is located in Southwestern Uganda. The drive time to be spent is between 6 and 7 hours but expect to make a brief stopover at the Equator crossing in Kikorongo Kasese just close to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Have a photo moment then proceed to Bwindi but navigate at the pace that allows you to encounter some wildlife in Queen Elizabeth Park.

In the Southern sector (Ishasha), you may chance to see the tree-climbing lions as they are lazing on the tree branches. Continue to the lodge around the Buhoma sector on the Northern side of Bwindi just close to Ishasha.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking with a Park Guide & Visit the Batwa Pygmies Community

Head to the Buhoma sector/offices for briefing after you have had a tasty breakfast. At Buhoma, meet the park official to take you through the guidelines to follow during the actual gorilla trekking adventure. You will also be assigned to an experienced park ranger guide who will lead you in a group of 8 visitors to search for one of the gorilla families in Bwindi.

About 23 habituated gorilla groups are all available for trekking in Bwindi, and Buhoma in particular, expect to explore any of the following; Habinyanja, Mubare, Katwe, and Rushegura gorilla families. Your trek will start at around 8:00 am taking about 2-6 hours which is inclusive of an hour for photography and exploring how mountain gorillas behave.

After a great time with mountain gorillas, walk back to relax at the lodge. In the evening, you will again leave and this time round, you will have a cultural tour of the Batwa Community. Meet the Batwa pygmies –the traditional hunters and gatherers, explore how they lived in the jungles for 1000s of years; and their hunting and gathering techniques. Enjoy the dances as showcased by the local people.

Day 5: Bwindi to Entebbe by road- Relax at the Hotel

Have a delicious breakfast at the lodge around Buhoma and after, be ready to connect to drive back to Entebbe City. It will be an 8-9 hour drive journey via Mbarara with an en-route stopover to be made at the Equator crossing in Kayabwe. From Kayabwe, proceed to Entebbe where you will have an evening relaxation in the hotel.

Day 6: Entebbe International Airport (EBB) to Arusha

Day 7: Arusha to Serengeti National Park

Depart from Arusha for Serengeti National Park using a classic 4×4 safari vehicle. Expect to spend about 6-7 hours in Serengeti with en-route breathtaking views awaiting you. Arrive early and check in at your lodge where you will have lunch. The rest of the day will be at the lodge relaxing and waiting for the next day’s program.

Day 8 of 10 Days Uganda and Tanzania: Enjoy a Full day in Serengeti

A leisurely breakfast be enjoyed early and after, proceed with a pack of lunch to explore Serengeti National Park. A full-day game drive through Serengeti will get you incredible insights into diverse wildlife species. Serengeti is one of the very few richest ecosystems and you should expect to encounter the Big 5 game –Buffaloes, Elephants, Leopards, Lions, Rhinos, plus Wildebeests, Giraffes, Zebras, and numerous antelopes. Day 9: Serengeti to Ngorongoro, Game drive in the afternoon

Wake up early to enjoy your delicious breakfast and today, expect to embark on a connecting journey to Ngorongoro. En route, you will have a short stopover at the Olduvai Gorge where an early man skull was discovered by Dr Mary Leaky. Proceed to Ngorongoro to check in your lodge and also enjoy lunch.
