Day 1: Kigali city tour – Volcanoes National Park

Kigali is one of the peaceful and cleanest cities in Africa and the world at large, set against the scenic hills. At Kigali, tourists and local residents enjoy its cleanliness, hospitability and more that this city has to offer.

Today, after a warm welcome from your Rwanda safari guide, be part of the few who have explored about this peaceful city. Visit Kigali genocide center for a deep insight into the 1994 Rwanda genocide where over 800,000 lost their lives.

Lunch will be provided in one of the best hotels in Rwanda and then you begin your picturesque drive to Volcanoes National Park, 2-3 hours. Arrive early, check in at the gorilla safari lodge you pre-booked. Relaxation, share stories as you a warm for the D-day, gorilla trekking.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking Rwanda Volcanoes National Park, Return to Kigali

Set off for registration and briefing at Kinigi, Volcanoes National Park offices. Meet the park official and briefing will be on gorilla trekking rules. Before you set off to see gorillas, you should have some packed lunch/snacks, bottled water and walking stick.

Actual trekking to see mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park starts at 8:00am with park guide accompanying every group of 8 visitors. It lasts for 2-6 hours, and you should be prepared to do some hiking (meaning, you need sturdy & waterproof hiking boots).

In the jungles to see gorillas, always pay keen attention to your guide. Actual time to spend with a family of gorillas is strictly one hour. This includes learning more about their behaviors as interpreted by your guide, taking pictures, etc then you head back to briefing point or to the lodge to check out.
