Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a Uganda safari park found in the Southwestern side of the country. It was gazetted as a National Park in Uganda in 1991 and later, it was also recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994, covering an area of 331sq.kms. Today, the park is comprised of 4 regions/gorilla trekking sectors – Rushaga and Nkuringo in the South; Buhoma in the North and to the East, there is Ruhija.
20 habituated gorilla families all live in the 4 gorilla trekking sectors in Bwindi, each visited by maximum of 8 tourists per day. The park also supports a range of other special wildlife species including chimpanzees, 360 bird species, 200 butterflies. This special gorilla safari begins and ends in Kampala/Entebbe.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – gorilla safari
Take breakfast early morning while still in Kampala city and meet your driver afterwards. Briefing about your Uganda gorilla safari to Bwindi will be done by the driver guide assigned to you. Begin the long road trip via Masaka-Mbarara-Kabale with Equator your main stopover point for photography, leg stretching and later, get your lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre.
The long afternoon will be spent for driving to Bwindi, located in Southwestern Uganda. A total of 8-9 hours will be spent driving, but there are endless things to enjoy en-route. Check in at your pre-booked accommodation for evening relaxation, dinner and night stay.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking experience + Batwa cultural visit
Gorilla safari in Bwindi: Wake up early and assemble at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park offices for briefing first about gorilla trekking guidelines/rules. Start actual adventure to see the giant mountain gorillas at 8:00am with park guide on lead. The trek may take 2-6 hours but at times comes with incredible sights of other species like birds or fauna.
When you finally come across a gorilla family, photography, observing their behaviors and a magical encounter will be enjoyed for one hour. After, return for lunch/relaxation at the lodge. In the evening, go meet the original forest keepers – the Batwa pygmies in their local community and this comes with great learning in addition to amazing dances, music performance.
